My Baby is Eleven!

It is so hard for me to believe that 11 years ago I gave birth to the most beautiful blue-eyed baby boy I had ever seen! It was an easy birth as best as I can remember (after all, I did threaten the anesthesiologist that if my epidural didn't take or if I had a window like I did with Grace, well.....I made sure she knew how I felt about it). She gave me so much that I could hardly feel anything and didn't even know when to push; the nurse would have to tell me. I'm not even sure how long I was in labor; it all kind of runs together after awhile but I do remember the feeling I had when they put Zach in my arms and I looked at him and held him for the first time. He was so big! Even though he wasn't quite 9 lbs (he was only 8 lbs 12.6 oz), he was so much bigger than Grace was at 7 lbs 3 oz. I remember telling my Mom, "he's a hoss" just looking at how big he was.

Everyone, including Grace, was immediately in love with him. Having a boy was so new to us all after there being only girls in the family but he stole our hearts from the very beginning. And as he got older and started developing his personality, how could you not be in love with him? Those blond curls, mischievous smile, rosy cheeks and the most amazing blue eyes! People would always comment how cute he was and how blue his eyes were. He was always such a good baby and well-mannered even as he got older. And now, he's 11. Wow! Where has the time gone? He's still just as cute as he was as a baby but there is so much more to him now. He's sensitive, kind, loving and so smart! He loves school, especially reading and science, and makes great grades in all of his classes. He plays soccer, is a purple belt in karate and loves to play video games and nerf guns with the other boys in the neighborhood.

Zach, I hope you know how much you are loved! Eleven years ago, our family became complete when you entered the world. You bring us all so much joy and laughter and we are so proud of you, the child that you are and the young man you are growing up to be. Keep smiling, laughing, playing, caring and you will change the world!

Happy birthday!

We love you!

Zach didn't want a party this year but just a low key birthday with just his immediately family.  His choice of what to have for lunch?  A footlong chili cheese dog from Sonic!

He waited all day long until Dave got home from work to open his presents.  He loved evertying he got but is still hoping for one particular gift that he thinks Nana and Paw might have gotten him.

We usually let the kids decide if they want a party or not for their birthday.  If they do not want a party, then they usually get more gifts or a bigger gift.  We are letting Zach choose his big gift this year - either a new bike or an iPhone.  Decisions, decisions!

$50 bill from Lola!  Woo hoo!

He chose Carrabba's for his birthday dinner but then wanted to go to Chili's for Molten Lava Cake for birthday dessert.  We stopped by and picked up Mimi on our way to Chili's so she could celebrate his birthday with us.

Love these two crazy kids!

Zach's Purple Belt Test

Zach tested for his purple belt tonight at Alexander's Martial Arts. After 2 plus hours of kata, kicks, blocks, punches, self-defense and sparring he is officially a purple belt and will be moving up to the advanced class. Way to go Zach! Now for a celebratory dinner at Chapala!

HFC Madison 04 Spring Party

We celebrated the end of spring soccer  season with a pizza party at Stevi B's tonight.  The boys had a great time stuffing themselves with pizza and playing games in the game room.  Now we'll have a few weeks off until practice for the fall season starts back up mid July.
