To celebrate the end of the year, Grace and her friends walked to Brewsters Ice Cream after school. Unfortunately, it was an usually chilly day for May so they didn't want to stay very long but they had fun for the short time they were there.
6th and 8th grade, here we come!

Zach had a great time and his favorite part was the riverboat ride. They were able to eat lunch on the riverboat while they cruised firm the river and then spent the rest of the day at the aquarium.

I am so proud of my niece, Hannah, who graduated tonight from James Clemens High School. She earned a full scholarship to Troy University where she will be attending in the fall and majoring in nursing. She's smart and beautiful!!! Way to go Hannah!!!
As you may or may not know, Zach is a voracious reader. His head is always in a book and reading is probably his most favorite past time. Every year he gets the reading award in his class for having the most AR points.
This year the top three readers were chosen from each grade and they got to throw a pie in the face of their principal, Dr.Nelson. Zach was so excited that he was chosen and Dr. Nelson was a great sport about it!

To celebrate Hannah's upcoming graduation on Monday night, Kerry and Mark had a small graduation party for her and family. Mark's family came in from MS and I had not seen them in years and years so that was really nice! We ate good BBQ from Lawler's, dessert, Hannah opened gifts and we all just hung out and of course took the requisite family pictures. I'm so happy to be back near family so we can spend time together and be here to celebrate these special occasions.

Grace wrapped up her 2nd and last year of dance tonight with her recital, The Time of My Life. She took two classes this year, Jazz and Ballet, but has decided not to continue dance and focus solely on cross county and track.
I've loved watching her these last two years and even though her heart was not completely in it tonight, she did a beautiful job. We are so proud of her and all the hard work she put in this past year in her studies, dance and track.
We love you Grace!
Before the recital all dressed in her Jazz costume. These puff ponytails and puff buns was a learning experience!
Nana and Paw came to see Allie and Grace dance.
Grace and Allie back stage and ready to go!

Every year the 7th grade girls play the 8th grade girls in a game of Powder Puff Football while the boys are cheerleaders. This tradition was started several years ago in memory of 13-year-old Torrell Holley who on October 19, 2001 was playing basketball at Liberty when he suddenly collapsed while running down the court — dying moments later from cardiac arrest. He had a previously undiagnosed heart condition known as ARVD (arrhythmogenic right ventricular dysplasia) for which there had been no warning. The powderpuff game serves to raise funds for the Torrell Holley Scholarship Award and “shares the tremendous characteristics of Torrell with Liberty students. Those characteristics are sportsmanship, great team spirit and a genuine love for all".

Tonight Grace and I went to James Clemens for the James Clemens Track Banquet. This was Grace's first athletic banquet and I'm sure, will not be her last.
Each athlete was recognized for their participation and commitment to the track team. When it was Grace's turn, Coach Bell looked at her and said "And there she is. This girl will do whatever I tell her to do. She trusts me and would come to me each week asking what I wanted her to do. So proud to have her as part of our team and she's going to be joining us for cross country here in a couple of weeks. Grace Williams."
Dave and I both are so proud of her in her first year of track and are looking forward to watching her in the years to come.
