We are so proud of Grace today! A few days ago, we received a phone call from her teacher, Ms. Redford, informing us that Grace would be receiving the Presidential Award for Educational Excellence for her class at school. She told me that Grace did not know about it and we were going to surprise her with it. To be eligible students must meet the requirements in BOTH of these categories: Category 1: Grade Point Average Students must have grade point average of 90 on a 100 point scale from grades 5 through the fall semester of the 8th grade. Category 2: Standardized Achievement Test or Adult Recommendations - Achievement in the 85th percentile or higher in math or reading on the State test OR Recommendations from a teacher to reflect outstanding achievement such as English, mathematics, science, history, geography, art, foreign language, and any other courses that reflect a school's core curriculum.
So today, I went to the school for the Award's Program. Grace saw me there and waved but didn't know why I was there. There was one student in each class from the 3rd, 4th and 5th grades that received this award. She seemed so surprised when the principal announced her name.
She has been such a good, hard-working student this year and are so proud of her accomplishments and achievements. Way to go Grace!
