Today is the national Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day and Grace and Zachary were so excited to be going to work with Dave. For those of you that don't know, Dave is a pilot in the USMC and is the XO of H&HS at Marine Corps Air Station New River in Jacksonville, NC. This is the first year that they have been able to participate and they couldn't wait! In preparation of their coming with him, Dave lined up a few special things for them to do.
Zachary decided last night that he wanted to wear his cover so he made sure he put it on first thing when he came downstairs for breakfast.
Even though they had to leave earlier than normal they were up and ready to go before Dave was. Here they are on their way out the door. (Dave changes into his uniform at work).
Hi ho, hi ho, it's off to work we go.......
One of the things that Dave lined up for them to do was to go up into the air traffic control tower. Zachary later told me that he could see the whole world from up there!
They also went over to the simulator for the CH-53 Crew Chiefs and they thought it was so cool that they controlled the simulator with an X-Box controller. How crazy is that!?!?
Here they are looking out the window of the simulator. They said it looked and felt like they were flying. They got to wear the helmets and talk back and forth on the radio; they were able to "fly over" Camp Lejeune and see where we live and of course the coolest part to them (especially Zachary) was shooting the guns that they shoot out of the 53.
I met them for lunch at the Officers' Club and they were both so excited to see me and tell me everything that they had done. They got out of the car and immediately started talking at the same time and were talking so loud and so fast and filled with excitement that I couldn't understand a word they were saying. Finally, when they calmed down and each told me about their day, it could only be summed up with one word........"AWESOME"!
