Today was Dress for Success Day at JPS. Grace decided that she wanted to be a veterinarian so she put a stethoscope around her neck and carried a stuffed dog with her. And Zachary dressed up as a policeman even though I don't think this is what he wants to be when he grows up; he just knows that it is one of the only dress up costumes he has! They both looked very cute and successful though!

I've decided to participate in another blog hop; this one is the MilSpouse Blog Hop hosted by Riding the Roller Coaster. Let me tell you a little about myself for those who don't know me (and for those of you that do, you can just skip this post if you want
My name is Jill and I am the wife to a pilot in the USMC. We've been married 14 years (just had our anniversary) and he will be able to retire in May 2013! Woo hoo! We have two beautiful children and I started this blog so that friends and family both near and far could keep up with the everyday happenings in our lives - both the little things and the big stuff. I hope that you enjoy what you see and you'll come back and visit again!
Thanks for stopping by.

Today Zach's class and the rest of all the Frog Teams went to the Pine Knoll Shores Aquarium. They loaded up the busses around 9 a.m. and I met them there. We had a picnic lunch when we first got there and were also treated to a great presentation about sea turtles. As soon as that was over, the kids were raring to go out and explore and see all the different marine life. Each chaperone was responsible for 4 students - I had Zachary, Wathen, Alexis and Isaiah R. in my group. It was hard to get them to stay together and keep track of them all day long but I managed. I really don't see how teachers do it. I definitely don't have what it takes. But everyone seemed to have a great time!

My friend Stacy and George. Check out her shirt. And yes, we are still friends even if she is a right wing radical. (Love ya StacEy!)
Mrs. Rutledge with her class
Ellie and Mia's moms were trying to get a picture of the girls that were sitting there and before we knew it, Zachary snuck over and grinned from ear to ear. He's such a stinker!

The kids got to go up one by one and pet a live sea turtle!
Touching the stingrays was definitely a hit!
They were all amazed at the big tank with the sharks, even Zach, who has been there so many times!
I love the little sea horses!

Fourteen years ago today, I walked down the aisle and said "I Do" to the love of my life. We were so young and I was entering into a life in the military that I didn't have a clue about. We have lived in 5 different houses in 3 different duty stations, been separated by 5 major deployments and tons of little ones, and have probably spent more anniversaries separated than we have together. It hasn't all been easy. As a matter of fact, we have had some really trying times and our life has not been perfect but I would do it all over again tomorrow if I had to. The happy times we have had together outweigh the bad and the bad times have just made us love each other more and made our marriage stronger.
Happy Anniversary Dave. I love you!

Grace and the rest of her class have worked very hard throughout the year on writing and they each wrote and illustrated a book which Mrs. Snyder published. Today we celebrated their hard work with an Author's Celebration. Parents were invited and Mrs. Snyder presented each student with their published book and a certificate. Grace wrote a book titled The Monster (you can read it here) and dedicated it to Zachary. We are so very proud of her!
Mrs. Snyder is an awesome teacher! In science, they learned all about baby ducks and chicks. As you know, they had several chicks to hatch but none of their duck eggs made it. Because Mrs. Snyder is such a great teacher and loves her kids so much, she went and bought 3 baby ducks and has set up a habitat in their room so the kids can watch and learn hands on all about the ducks. They are going to keep them for as long as they can. It's allot of extra work on Mrs. Snyder because she has to change out their water each day and make sure they are getting plenty of food and swim time. I met her up at the school on Sunday and brought a baby pool and helped her set up the pen for them. They are sooo cute! The kids named them today and they are Sunny, Quackers and Sleepy.
