Magic Kingdom

Tonight we had tickets to Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party at Magic Kingdom. We knew it was going to be a late night so we did not hurry to get there today. As a matter of fact, we didn't get there until about noon. I had been expecting all of the parks to be decorated for Halloween and was a little disappointed that they weren't, but I should have known that Magic Kingdom wouldn't disappoint. There were pumpkins and scarecrows everywhere! It was great.

As many times as we have been to Disney, there are still things that we have not done. So this time, we tried to do things that we have never done before, including taking the raft over to Tom Sawyer's Island. The kids absolutely loved it! They ran around and explored and climbed and played. They had a blast!

We have also never been to The Hall of Presidents. Dave has wanted to do this many times but either no one else wanted to do it or it was closed for renovations. He was bound and determined this time to go to The Hall of Presidents and I'm so glad we did. It was very impressive and well done!

The first ride everyone wanted to do was Pirates of the Caribbean and then Grace and Zach's favorites, Splash Mountain and Big Thunder Railroad. I was hoping that we wouldn't be on the 1st or 2nd row because I did not want to get drenched. And luckily, we weren't. But we still all got a little wet which was fine because it was so hot outside. We were able to dry off some on Big Thunder Railroad. I love that roller coaster; it makes me laugh.

We had an early dinner reservation at 1900 Park Fare at The Grand Floridian so we caught the monorail over and got there in the nick of time. We all looked a little rough (hot, sweaty, wet) and the first thing they did was take a family picture, which we did not buy for $29.99. The food was good but did not compare with Cape May the night before. Of course, part of that may have been because we were eating so early and we weren't all that hungry. But this was a character dinner and that's always fun. We got to meet Cinderella, Prince Charming, Cinderella's Evil Stepmother and her two stepsister's, Anastasia and Drizella who were awesome. The evil stepmother and stepsisters were really in character. I think it would be much more fun to play one of the evil characters than it would be to play Cinderella or one of the other princesses who have to be nice and sweet all of the time. We all enjoyed Drizella the most; the cast member who played her definitely embraced her inner brattiness and was delightfully insulting in a humorous Disney way. After she left, I was inspired to twist my mouth like she did and talk like her and we all got a good laugh at that.

After dinner, we rushed back to the room to get Grace and Zach in their costumes for the Halloween party. Zach was a skeleton pirate and Grace was Pocahontas. They both looked adorable! Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party was fun but Dave and I were both a little disappointed. Maybe because it was so similar to Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party that we have been to a couple of times. I'm not sure but I think I expected to see more characters in costume; but the parade was awesome and the kids got tons of candy which made them happy. And it's always nice to be able to ride the rides with little to no lines. We ended the party at midnight with hot dogs from Casey's Corner on Main Street before heading back to the resort.

Eating candy while waiting on the parade

The Halloween parade was awesome and it started with the Headless Horseman!

This pirate was pointing directly at Zachary!

Capt. Jack Sparrow also noticed Zachary in his pirate costume and pointed to him and gave him a big pirate Arrrr Me Hardy! We tried to get Zachary to do it back to him but he was too shy. Capt Jack kept trying and eventually looked at me and kind of shrugged his shoulders. It was too funny!

These ghosts from the Haunted Mansion looked fabulous!

The parade ended with Goofy's Candy Co and castmembers passing out candy to everyone!
