Major Williams, Excutive Officer




Upon Dave's return home from Africa, he became the Executive Officer (XO) of Headquarters and Headquarters Squadron at MCAS New River. Headquarters and Headquarters Squadron (H&HS) is tasked with providing service to support operations of a Marine Aircraft Wing and/or units thereof. H&HS provides administrative and training support to over 600 Marines and Navy personnel, mans the Air Station Headquarters and the Station's two UC-12B aircraft, as well as providing the personnel to support the diverse functions required of a modem Marine Corps Air Station from air traffic control to food services and law enforcement. H&HS was activated on I October 1951 as Headquarters Squadron, Marine Corps Air Facility, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina supporting Marines during the Korean War. Headquarters Squadron was again redesignated on 22 July 1952 as Headquarters Squadron, Marine Corps Air Facility, New River and continued to support out Corps during the Korean War. The Squadron was again redesignated on 1 September 1968 as Headquarters and Headquarters Squadron, Marine Corps Air Station (Helicopter), New River and again on I July 1984 to Headquarters and Headquarters Squadron, Marine Corps Air Station, New River. During this period, H&HS supported Marines deploying to Lebanon, Grenada, Panama, Liberia, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Iraq. H&HS has served its Corps and Country through four decades of strife and peace and will continue to do its part in defending our nation. H&HS is committed to supporting those Marines who serve in the Fleet Marine Forces and the community in which it resides.
