Great Wolf Lodge

We decided rather spur of the moment to take a trip up to Williamsburg to the Great Wolf Lodge, which is a lodge and indoor water park, and then go to a soccer game in DC. We left on Monday, July 6th and got to Williamsburg that afternoon. After checking in and eating dinner, we went back to our room, changed into our swimsuits and hit the water slides. The kids loved it! When you first walk in, the first thing you see is Fort Mackenzie, a four-story interactive treehouse water fort offering 12 levels of super-soaking fun where you make your way over suspension bridges and cargo nets to spray stations and soaker buckets to get to the slides at the top. The grand daddy of soaker buckets is the 1,000-gallon tipper that sits atop Fort Mackenzie. Every few minutes, the warning bell clangs, and the bucket begins to tip its contents over the roof and onto the giggling group below. The kids loved the twin three-story slides which offered the fastest (not to mention, funfilled) escape route out of the Fort Mackenzie tree house.

We all also loved Alberta Falls, where you grab an intertube and climb up four stories. We would go on double tubes, Zach and Dave on one and Grace and me on another, where we would twist in and out of the Lodge before dropping into the plunge pool. After plunging into the pool, you could float along Crooked Creek and just let the current sweep you along the endless, winding lazy river.

We stayed in the waterpark until it closed that night at 9 and then went down the next morning as well. We did all the waterslides and let the kids just play in all the spray stations, then we had lunch and went out and played putt putt golf. I can't remember the last time I played putt putt golf but I had a blast and got either 2 or 3 hole in one's! Dave couldn't believe it. After putt putt, we came back by the outdoor pool and let the kids play for a bit before changing and heading to DC.

Dave and Grace being silly!
