Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss!

“The sun did not shine

it was too wet to play.

So we sat in the house all that cold, cold, wet day.”

Today, March 2, is Dr. Seuss' birthday and all across the country schools celebrated with Read Across America day, a day meant for adults and children to take time to read together. Johnson Primary School celebrated Dr. Seuss' birthday by the kids dressing up as either a character out of a Dr. Seuss book or as a Community Helper. Grace dressed up as a doctor and Zachary was a policeman. In Grace's class this morning, the kids voted on whether or not they thought they would like green eggs and then each child was able to scramble some green eggs and eat them. After they ate the green eggs, they could then go vote on whether they liked them or not. The PTA also served birthday cake to all the students and teachers in honor of Dr. Seuss' birthday. And as part of Read Across America, various Community Helpers came to the school to read to each of the classes.

Grace's class all made Dr. Seuss hats when they first got to school this morning.
