No Training Wheels

We decided that it was time for Grace to learn how to ride her bike without her training wheels. So, on Saturday Dave pumped up her tires with air, lowered the seat and we got in the alley behind our house and tried to teach her to ride her bike without training wheels. Note the key word here - "tried". I've decided that Grace definitely takes after me in her athletic prowess. She is not very athletic and is fearful of trying new things. Dave worked awhile with her but we didn't succeed in riding with no training wheels. I guess we will just have to try again.

ok, useful tip here. Take off the training wheels, and take OFF the pedals. Yes, take off the pedals. Lower the seat as low as it will go, then let her push and balance with her feet on the ground. Hannah learned in 15 minutes; she was 6 almost 7 and terrified. She could go 90mph on the scooter but the bicycle she just couldnt' get; a neighbor in OK gave us this suggestion and it worked. They can kinda' get their balance with their feet down, then you put the pedals back on and raise up the seat of course. Let me know how it goes. Also, take off some of the padding so she can move...LOL...been there.

Hey, there is a GREAT song by Justin Roberts called "Taking Off My Training Wheels" from his Meltdown album. If you have iTunes, go online and check it out. Hillarious! You pictures so made me think of that!

Good job Grace!
